GTC Tyre Academy
At Guildford Tyre Company it is our aim to get all our tyre technician trainees, or semi-experienced technicians that have joined us from another company to hold the relevant qualifications and become the best tyre technicians in the industry.
After an intensive internal training scheme, we will be utilising the current market leaders to train and assess our staff. This will lead to industry approved accreditation, that will be only the start of your professional journey.
No experience is necessary, just a willingness to learn and be the best you can be.
Michelin Training Academy
Utilising the Michelin Training Academy, we will cover the following modules on the course are:
- Practical Assessment – Fitting of Car, Light Van and 4X4 tyres
- Practical Assessment – Wheel Security (BSAU 50)
- Practical Assessment – Minor Tyre Repairs (BSAU 159(g))
- Balancing, Theory & Practical Assessment
- Four Wheel Alignment, Theory & Practical Assessment
- TPMS
- Manual Handling and Safe Working Practices
On completion of the course delegates will receive their formal qualifications and licenses, including City & Guilds and NTDA License Retail Tyre Technician, which are both valid for 5 years.
IMI Wheel Alignment Fundamentals
Utilising The Proalign Hunter training academy, our trainees will be sent on a one day course is designed to give the alignment technician an in depth knowledge of wheel alignment theory.
On completion of the course, the candidate will be able to:
- Describe principles of camber, caster, toe and thrust angle and the related effects these angles have on tyre wear and vehicle handling.
- Describe principles of S.A.I / included angle, setback, turning angle and maximum steer angle.
- Give a detailed diagnosis of potential alignment related problems from equipment printouts.
On successful completion of the IMI Quality Assured Award (QAA) in Wheel Alignment Fundamentals examination you will receive, via post) the IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry) QAA Certificate.
